APCA

 HISTORY:

APCA was established in 1996 to promote charitable activities in the fields of art, music and theater.

 MISSION:

APCA is dedicated to supporting the best talent in each field and working closely with other local organizations which have similar goals and purposes. In addition, APCA sponsors local and visiting artists; to inform, educate and entertain the public at large.

Since its inception in 1996, APCA has sponsored numerous world renowned classical music artists from India. The local audiences got a rare opportunity to listen to such artists as Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar, Pandit Jasraj, Zakir Hussain, Gundecha Brothers, Amjad Ali Khan, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Shahid Parvez, L Subramanium, Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Kaushiki Chakraborty and many others.

APCA provided support to Embassy of India during the celebrations of 50th anniversary of India’s independence at the Smithsonian. These programs were shown free to the public.

APCA has provided support to the local theater group Natya Bharati during those early years when attendance at performances was sporadic. The local dance schools of Nrityalaya and Kuchipudi Kalanidhi have sought support from APCA a few times and presented classical dancers for enjoyment of the general public.

In short APCA has been instrumental in helping local audiences to get exposure to the culture from the East and appreciate its richness.
